Our temporary belt Squat Station...
I made some additions to the kickstand which were improvements. I moved it more forward which gives us more leg room. When I weighed it with the additions, the Timber of Torture weighed in at 105 pounds. Because of the placement of the eye bolt anything I put on the machine in weight is increased by 30%. I have to say that it is like doing a strong man workout because of the raw weight. So I decided I am just going to eat and train heavy. I weighed in on Sunday at 230. I have developed a shelf. LOL but it is coming in handy. My plan at this stage is to clean up the calories in the diet, bring them down to around 2800, and try to maintain that body weight, make it harder (gain muscle) while loosing body fat and end up around 210- 220. My wife and I are planning on adding some carrying exercises to our workouts for fun. i.e. bag carry, stone carry, farmers walk etc. We will see 🙂
Sounds fun for sure. have you been making some GRAVY?
Holding steady about 210 I think. No scale. we made a huge batch Gravy a few weeks ago! Yum!!!
I do not recommend steroids, or a cycle. I have used them in my competitive timeline, but if you are not competing in a national or professional way. I do not recommend. The steroids you get off the black market or the street are not safe. It is all about health, safety and strength. When that changed in bodybuilding, I ceased to compete. If you must, because of your vocation as a competitive bodybuilder, power builder, strong man or powerlifter, see a MD and explain your goal. In that you will guidance, testing and a higher level of safety.
Bill Sahli’s Workout Progress as of Independence Day 2020
I don’t know what has been more intense, my workouts or doing necessary modifications to our back-yard gym. 😊
Although the gyms are open and running again, I am hooked on our back-yard experience. I have made many modifications to all parts of it in the way of supports, pulley systems etc.
We have a weight loaded dipping setup that works pretty slick. Much like the old Nautilus Dipping setup with a dip belt and selector-ized weight stack. Except mine uses buckets filled with 20 pound bricks.
The crossover / pushdown / pulldown apparatus supplies the weight for the dipping machine. We only load the weight (buckets with brick) in one place for all of it. Due to the design of the dipping machine and platform, we can also do seated pulley rows, curls, laterals etc….
The belt squat machine, we call it the Timber of Torture… has been updated with safeties so that we can partial squats, full squats safely, along with rows, high pulls, deadlifts full and partial, along with power curls.
So, I think I am done with modifications, nothing more to hone or find.
Back to minimalistic training…
When I back away and look at it, I find that I am at the point in my career of simply training once a week, we like Sundays!
We basically train the entire body with basic moves and some assistance in one workout, one set, shooting for higher reps. We are also employing some heavy partials as I have found these to dramatically increase my size and strength. So, this is what we do….
Neg Dips: 140 x 10+ reps lowering 15 seconds each
Timber of Torture Belt Squats - Full or Partial: 400 x 20-30 reps
I no longer do ass to floor squats. I descend until my calf and thigh are at a right angle and no lower. When doing partials, it is about a 4-inch movement to the top.
Timber of Torture Bent over Rows: 280 x 10+
[Sometimes: We may go into deadlifts to failure following the rows]
Timber of Torture Power Curls: 180 x 10 +
Think of this as an explosive partial drag curl, starting with the arms bent supporting the weight at the bottom and exploding to a right angle just under the pecs, taking the shoulders completely out of the movement.
We may or may not include after this 4-set workout:
High Rep Cable Flies, Cable Curls or Pushdowns
At the moment I am fasting 20 hours a day and eating within a 4-hour window. I have greatly increased my muscle mass and weighed 230 at 5’5”. When you do this naturally by increasing your calorie intake, you also increase your waist size. 😊
So, I am gradually losing body-fat but have not lost strength or muscle but have increased it. I will monitor my progress and if I can make it down to around 200 without loosing muscle, that is where I will stay! I am still using the Anabolic diet, low carbs 5 days, high carbs 2 days.
I hope all have a great rest of your 4th of July weekend and remember to HIT IT HARD THE OLD SCHOOL WAY.... then go home and let it happen.
